Dry Joy
The exhibition Dry Joy shows works by the Finnish contemporary artist Iiu Susiraja, taken over the last 10 years. Susiraja was born in 1975 in Turku, Finland. She works mainly with photography and video, and has an MA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki where she studied from 2013–2018. Recently, she received international attention for her distinctive photographs and video works, and marks herself as one of Finland's most interesting contemporary artists. Her works have been purchased by several Finnish and international institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma and the Helsinki Art Museum - HAM in Finland, the Gothenburg Art Museum in Sweden and the Stavanger Art Museum. This is Susiraja's first solo exhibition at a Norwegian art museum, and is part of the museum's investment in exhibiting Nordic and international contemporary art.
The exhibition, Dry Joy is produced by the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma / Finnish National Gallery. The exhibition at Sørlandets Kunstmuseum is a collaboration between the museum, Kiasma, FINNO and the artist, and includes a completely new installation produced for the exhibition in Kristiansand.
